Oktoberfest in the South Bay

Oktoberfest in the South Bay

The Oktoberfest celebration began with a royal marriage between Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810. The celebration turned out so well that the Bavarians decided to do it again, and again, and again… and Oktoberfest was born! Over the years the folk festival expanded into a two-and-a-half-week long party that brings 7 million visitors to Munich every year. Since then, mini-festivals have been recreated throughout the world.

You don’t have to travel all the way to Munich for the festivities. The South Bay has some great places to celebrate this German tradition.

Alpine Village is the home of the longest running Oktoberfest celebration in Los Angeles. This authentic-yet-modern Oktoberfest features the Oom Pah Pah party band, traditional German food, and delicious German beers brewed by Warsteiner. Oktoberfest at Alpine Village is happening every weekend from September 8th through October 28th.  Fridays and Saturdays are 21+, but all ages are welcome to attend on Sundays!
