Overlooking San Pedro, the Los Angeles – Long Beach harbor complex (the largest port in the United States), and Santa Catalina Island, this 123-acre park has a picnic area, children’s play area, and large turf areas. On site you’ll also find a natural history museum with classrooms, live animals, and displays to educate and entertain in the 4,000-square-foot Nature Center. Many activities including bird walks, naturalist classes for adults and children, craft classes, hiking, picnicking, birthday parties, school field trips, and nature camps. Young children will enjoy the shaded playground in a sand lot surrounded by lawn.
On clear days, visitors have wonderful panoramic views of Los Angeles and the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountain ranges. Hiking trails are found throughout the park. Some of the trails are ADA-accessible. The park is also home to the beautiful, captive-bred and federally endangered Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly.
The Bogdanovich Recreation Center is a short walk across the parking lot and has athletic fields, an indoor basketball court, plus three giant play structures for kids!
