The S.S Lane Victory will dedicate a memorial plaque to the 17 mariners who enlisted in the Merchant Marine and gave their lives during the wars while transporting troops and supplies for our armed forces.
Tour the ship, from the engine room to the bridge where the ship’s officer navigated vast ocean’s while in fear of being discovered by wolfpack submarines and luftwaffe dive-bombers. Walk the passageways where the maritime heroes lived for months at a time. Stand on the decks where the men stood and worked. Visit both museums and discover the unique history of the Merchant Marine.
Residents of San Pedro and the Southland are encouraged to attend and show their appreciation to the Lost 17.
- Dedication Ceremony is at 3pm; will take place with special guests, honored guard, national anthem, and more.
- Tour the historic landmark which was built and launched in San Pedro in 1945 to serve in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, before coming to it’s home at Berth 46.
Free to the public! Donations are welcomed!
